Quick trip up to PA to check in on Nana while Pop-pop was on a golf retreat, and meet up with one of my best friends dating back to 7th grade, Brette Reiman (a friendship started when she sat behind me in homeroom - she was Mathias to my Kaufmann back then, and cemented during Brian Dunleavy's pool party when neither one of us wanted to swim the butterfly in a relay race).
It was so much fun to sit and visit with Brette, to chat with her mom who joined us for lunch, and to watch her youngest Tess play with Owen. As I commented to my mom later that day, I think it's really special that my three best buds growing up - Brette, Bea, and Manda - are all women that to this day I respect, like, and would choose again as friends.
